New research on desktop 3D printing and emissions safety shows ....

Over the past 2 years, we have seen continuous discussion on the safety side of 3D printer usage. This topic has been specially concerning for 3D printers installed for in homes, offices and classrooms due to the fumes and particle emissions resulting from filament based 3D printing.     In 2016, Illinois Institute of Technology conducted research, aimed to test how effective enclosed chambers and HEPA filters are in helping to reduce UFP and VOC emissions with desktop 3D printers.     TierTime stepped up to the plate and had sent one of their UP BOX 3D printers to the...

New Fiber infused 3D printing filament from ProtoPasta!

As usual, we've been testing and experimenting with various materials and have a 3D printing material that we felt deserved a bit a time in the spotlight. So, we've been trying out the newer ProtoPasta Matte Fiber at MakerTree 3D, and right away we could see that this material was something special! First, is this model from Thingiverse user Braddock and is called "ieyo bust" which came out wonderfully!    The Matte Fiber extrudes from our E3D v6 at 210c, exhibiting great bridging and overhang capabilities. For the build platform we did use heat at 60c and with a BuildTak surface. Matte Fiber prints easily...

EinScan-Pro & UP 3D printers for motorsport customization at MakerTree 3D

Custom motorsports components with EinScan-Pro & UP Box+   With the 2016 year winding down, we wanted to take a moment to share a cool project we have been working on here at MakerTree 3D. This project that has utilized a couple of the more popular products we've seen this year, which include the EinScan-Pro 3D scanner from Shining 3D and the UP Box+ 3D printer from Tiertime.    This project's focus was on a 2011 Yamaha Stryker motorcycle. This bike has already been customized in numerous areas, but has a hint of an apocalyptic theming with the chromed Zombie Pegs, and custom designed skull/ gasmask gauge background....
